Location

Reykjavik, which is Iceland's capital, is located at 22 degrees west and 66 degrees north. Iceland is south of the Arctic Circle. The Arctic Circle is a region surrounding the north pole. Iceland is also located just west of the Prime Meridian. The Prime Meridian is the line of longitude the is at 0 degrees. Iceland is north of the Atlantic Ocean, and is southwest of the country Greenland.


Place

Human: The people of Iceland share a love of art, such as drawing, and a love of literature.  The primary language spoken by the people is called Icelandic.
Physical: In Iceland there are glaciers, rivers, and hills throughout the country. Interestingly, the entire country is surrounded by water.



Movement

Of goods: The people of Iceland use boats, trucks, and planes to transport goods throughout their country and also to export goods to the rest of the world. Fishing is widely popular so it's not surprising that seafood is one of the primary  exports.  Iceland makes a large portion of its money by exporting goods to many countries, including the United States.
Of ideas: Telephones are very important to the people in Iceland - it is the main way people communicate. The Icelandic people also enjoy many radio stations (there are approximately 70 different stations throughout the country) and they use the internet as well. All of these things help ideas travel throughout Iceland.
Of people:
 Because there are no public train stations in Iceland,  people travel by cars. The country also has 86 airways. The price to fuel  cars, trucks, and planes is very high, which impacts their economy.



Human Environment Interaction

The Environment Affecting Humans: There are glaciers in Iceland which made hills all over the country. Because of that they can be used for all sorts of activities.Glaciers also make building buildings harder. There are rivers in Iceland. They are used for fresh water and transportation. Iceland is surrounded by water which cause natural disasters, food from fish, and transportation/import/ export
Humans Affecting the Environment: They are starting to use hydrogen-fueled cars. Hydrogen-fueled cars causes less greenhouse gas emissions.Therefore the environment improves. Since Icelandic cuisine is made mainly off of fish and other seafood, so the sea creatures may die and go extinct in a shorter amount of time.



Region

Iceland is part of the Nordic region. The Nordic region consists of 5 countries and 3 territories. The countries and territories have some similar parts in their history such as political system. The Nordic countries cooperate together in the Nordic Council.
